Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Android Developer with strong SDK and Kotlin expertise to join our team on a contract basis in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining high-quality Android applications and SDK components. You will work closely with engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver robust, scalable, and reliable mobile solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Android applications and SDKs using Kotlin.
  • Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile solutions.
  • Develop and integrate Android SDK components and APIs.
  • Work with Android frameworks, libraries, and third-party integrations.
  • Collaborate with backend, product, UX/UI, QA, and other engineering teams.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application and SDK issues.
  • Write clean, reusable, and testable code following Android development best practices.
  • Develop unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design discussions.
  • Analyse performance, memory usage, stability, and application behaviour.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Android platform updates, SDK capabilities, and development practices.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and development standards.





Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong commercial experience in Android development.
  • Advanced Kotlin programming skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Android SDK and Android application architecture.
  • Experience developing or integrating Android SDKs and APIs.
  • Good knowledge of Android Studio, Gradle, and the Android build ecosystem.
  • Experience with REST APIs and third-party service integrations.
  • Strong understanding of Android lifecycle, threading, memory management, and performance optimisation.
  • Experience with modern Android architecture and development patterns.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices.
  • Experience writing unit and automated tests.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.





Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • Knowledge of Android Jetpack components.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated mobile builds.
  • Experience with Firebase or similar mobile services.
  • Exposure to security, authentication, encryption, or mobile application security.
  • Experience working on large-scale or enterprise Android applications.
  • Experience publishing or maintaining applications through Google Play.
